The study of Palms has evolved over thousands of years. Although the major lines on the hands develop while a baby is still in the womb, they continue to alter throughout life- only the skin -ridge patterns remain unchanged.

Also known as Chirology or Palm Reading in popular culture, this is prevalent in many countries across the world, with regional and cultural variations.

It is the part of Samudrik Shastra. Samudrik shastra is the common name for Anga Vidya which deals with signs and marks on the human body including hand.
